Read: Luke 19:1–9, Bible in a Year: Job 22–24; Acts 11
Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today. Luke 19:5
When I was a kid, our family made a monthly excursion from Ohio to West Virginia to visit my maternal grandparents. Every time we arrived at the door of their farmhouse, Grandma Lester would greet us with the words, “Come on in and sit a spell.” It was her way of telling us to make ourselves comfortable, stay a while, and share in some “catching-up” conversation.

Topic: Do You Like Yourself? [July 1, 2016]
Let him search for peace…and seek it eagerly. [Do not merely desire peaceful relations with God, with your fellowmen, and with yourself, but pursue, go after them!] - 1 Peter 3:11
Have you ever thought about your relationship with yourself? For years, it never occurred to me that I had a relationship with myself. In fact, I never thought about it until God began to teach me how to improve it. Maybe the idea that you have a relationship with yourself has never entered your mind, either. But the truth is, you spend more time with yourself than with anyone else! So getting along well with yourself is vital to your well-being.

Joel and Victoria Osteen’s daily devotional July 1, 2016 – Take Off the Limits
Today’s Scripture: “I have seen that everything [human] has its limits and end [no matter how extensive, noble, and excellent]; but Your commandment is exceedingly broad and extends without limits [into eternity].” - (Psalm 119:96, AMP)
Topic: Take Off the Limits [July 1, 2016]
Did you know that you can limit your life by dwelling on the wrong things? So often, wrong thinking keeps people stuck right where they are. If you think you’ll never accomplish your dreams, those thoughts will hold you back. If you think you don’t have the talent, the connections or the funds, then you are limiting yourself. You are blocking what God can do in your life.
Education standards and scrapping Post-UTME
Written by the Editorial board of The Guardian Newspaper
By scrapping the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), otherwise called Post- JAMB (Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board) examination, the Federal Government once again advertises inconsistency in Nigeria’s educational system and quest for development. Lack of an enduring education system has always been a serious minus for Nigeria and not even the admission of candidates into educational institutions is spared the malaise. This is sad.
Virtually, every new administration, indeed, Minister of Education, throws up a new system that sets aside what was in place, often, with dire consequences.

Winning Wisdom: Fresh Start
Topic: Fresh Start [1/7/2016]
Text: Genesis 9:1-15
Sometimes, it is okay to throw your hands in the air and quit trying to make something work, especially when you've given them your best shot. It doesn't mean you are weak, but it shows your wisdom. It is wise to accept defeat in a battle, but come back stronger to win the war. No matter where life have defeated you before, you are making a victorious comeback in Jesus name. Beloved, your comeback will shock and take your foes by surprise that they will be caught off guard.

Memorise: God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. – Psalms 46:1b
Read: 1 Kings 17:12-16 (KJV)
12 And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
DCLM Daily Manna, July 1 2016 by Pastor Kumuyi - His Matchless Compassion
Topic: His Matchless Compassion [July 1, 2016]
Text: Luke 7:11-18
Key Verse: "And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not" (Luke 7:13).
Jesus, at every point, has always had compassion. He went into a city called Nain and saw a funeral procession. A man, the only son of his mother, who was a widow, had died and this threw the city into a sorrowful mood. His mother was weeping uncontrollably and a large crowd from the city was with her. The loss of her only son meant she had nothing in her future except a life of childlessness and loneliness and misery. When Jesus heard her story, He had compassion on her.

Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household? - Matthew 24:45
The Word tells us that God shows Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are "perfect" toward Him (2 Chronicles 16:9). That word perfect doesn't mean that we have to do everything just right and live without making a mistake. Thank God, we don't have to do that. It means "devoted"—a heart consecrated, dedicated, loyal and faithful to God.
Our Daily Bread devotional, July 1, 2016 - Out in the Cold
Topic: Out in the Cold [July 1, 2016]
Read: Job 11:7–20, Bible in a Year: Job 20–21; Acts 10:24–48
To God belong wisdom and power; counsel and understanding are his. Job 12:13
In desperation, a woman called the housing assistance center where I worked. A heating problem had turned her rental home into a freezer with furniture. Panicked, she asked me how she would care for her children. I hurriedly replied with the scripted official response: “Just move into a hotel and send the landlord the bill.” She angrily hung up on me.
