DCLM Daily Manna April 18, 2017 by Pastor Kumuyi – Undeniable Faith

Topic: Undeniable Faith [Tuesday April 18, 2017]

Text: Luke 18:1-8

Key Verse: "And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?" (Luke 18:7).

In His earthly teachings, Christ employed parables to exemplify and illuminate His teachings. They were familiar tools He readily employed to remove the tendency of being abstract. In the text under consideration, Jesus gave a picture of two people, a judge and a widow.

The judge was the stronger of the two, with all legal advantages, while the widow was very weak with societal deprivations. The story stresses the fact that no matter how weak a person becomes, he or she can turn the tide of circumstances around by having the kind of faith the widow displayed. It is called the persistent faith, a kind of faith that says "I’m going to keep asking, seeking and knocking until he opens".

The widow was importunate partly because she had faith in the unjust judge. Her continual coming left the judge with no option than to concede to her request. No matter where the pendulum swings, there is no room to compromise the faith once delivered to saints. The Scripture admonishes us that rather than going to the unrighteous judge to plead our cause, we should press on for justice in the place of prayer to the Judge of all the earth who judges righteously until He answers.

We must consistently have the faith that irrespective of how weak or feeble the societal system may make us, our strength lies not in hiring the best attorney or in fighting it out in the courts! It is in an unwavering and abiding faith in the Most High. Christ assures us that we have a powerful heavenly Father and Judge who will speedily avenge his elect who cry day and night to Him.

Thought for the day: There is neither loss nor limitation for he who prevails in prayer.
