Pastor Faith Oyedepo: Monday November 23, 2015 Daily Devotional – Make peace for them

Topic: Make peace for them [Monday 23 November, 2015]

“Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.”-1 Timothy 4:15

A young man was having challenges with his wife, shortly after they got married. The case deteriorated and he resulted to counselling because, even though their relationship wasn’t cosy, he didn’t want his marriage to end. It was discovered in counselling that his parents were always having challenges and as a result, he had accepted that every marital relationship should be that way. This assumption is so untrue!

Marriage, as opposed to what society thinks, is for the better and not worse. It is not “a necessary evil”, and you don’t have to live as “cat and dog” in order to understand each other. Your marriage can be stress-free and exciting if only you seek knowledge from the Word of God and stand by it. God has made marriage for the fusing of two people to become one, therefore, He didn’t intend for them to have differences.

One major side effect of disharmony in marriage is that it affects the future of the children in such homes. I have seen children from broken or “warring” homes and it tells in their character, relationship with others and their views about life. They often look more troubled and depressed than other children of their age, and as a result, they are drawn to more danger than others. So, why not help the next generation by creating a peaceful home for them to live in.

Don’t let your lack of commitment to the success of your family be a hindrance to your child’s future happiness. They may look too young now to understand, but what you do and say in their presence, imprints on their minds and could affect their thought patterns when they are much older. Never underestimate your children, they can always tell when things are not right in the home. Therefore, beware and make peace for them.

Remain Blessed!
