Winning Wisdom: Our Hope

Topic: Our Hope [Thursday, 25th May 2017]

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16

Everyday we run this Christian race with persecutions and challenges on every side. We defend a cause that the world and its morals are against. Christians die from time to time because of their faith, and then people would ask, 'what is really the deal with you guys'? How do you treasure what you don’t see? What is this heaven that you people are just killing yourself over for? You will soon realize that there is nothing like heaven or a divine when your life ends. Why not enjoy your life here while it last?

First, we’ve always known we’d be despised by the world, because the servant can’t be greater than the master, and how the master was treated, is how the servant will be treated also (John 15:20).

Second, this world is only temporary, and will pass away and we can’t keep our treasures where moth and thieves will get to them. (Matthew 6:9).

Finally we have a hope that keeps us. 2 Corinthians 1:6 says - “and whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.”

The hope that our minds are renewed daily (Romans 12:2). And that our sufferings are for a greater glory: “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; for our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory” (2 Corinthians 4:8‭-‬9‭, ‬17).

Our hope keeps us. Our hope is in the glory that will be revealed in us when our Saviour comes. That is the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Prayer:

Dear God, thank You for all the treasures You’ve set ahead of us. Thank You for the opportunity to experience Your glory. Help me always remember this, in Jesus Name. Amen.
