Winning Wisdom: The Source of Our Peace

Topic: The Source of Our Peace [Thursday, 29th June 2017]

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1)

Scripture tells us about the peace of God we are to experience in Christ (Philippians 4:7; John 16:33; 2 Thessalonians 3:16). But if we are honest with ourselves, we know the Christian walk is anything but peaceful. From external persecutions, to internal conflict, to confusion on what God will have you do, to uncertainty of what tomorrow brings, to balance of doctrinal principles, to loving in the midst of adversity, etc. How can we talk of peace in these circumstances. Sometimes it would even seem that not being a Christian is more peaceful than being one. But true peace is experienced and known not in a serene state, but in chaos. Of a truth, how would you know you’re at peace except in a chaotic situation.

Now Christ foretold a lot of chaos and trials (2 Timothy 3:12; Mark 10:17, 24-25), and also promised us peace (John 16:33). The next question would be “what is the source of our peace?” The answer is very simple: Faith in the finished works of Christ that guarantees us victory. In John 16:33 Christ tells us “these things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” Christ has overcome the world, and we overcome the world with Him, by virtue of our acceptance of His death and resurrection (Romans 6:3-5;11). Our peace comes from faith in that victory. Knowing that we’ve won, and we only fight to manifest that victory, yet not us but Him through us (I Corinthians 15:10).

Our peace comes from faith and trust in God, for the prophet Isaiah said “thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” (Isaiah 26:3). Keep trusting God, and have peace.

Keep winning daily.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your finished works that stemmed from love for me. I trust that in You I have complete victory. Hello me not to lose sight of this, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
