Winning Wisdom: The Wisdom from Above 2

Topic: The Wisdom from Above 2 [Friday, 23rd June 2017]

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. James 3:17

Everything that comes from God is whole, complete and good (James 1:17), and this is inclusive of His wisdom and counsel which we’ve been encouraged to seek daily for a more fruitful living (Proverbs 8:17,34; 1 Corinthians 3:18). Below are more characteristics of the wisdom from above:

-    It is full of mercy. It is agreed that everything that flows from God possesses a character of God. That is why no evil comes from God, as evil cannot be found in Him. As we well know God is merciful (Jeremiah 3:12), and Christ, in Luke 6:36, tells us to be merciful as our Father. It follows therefore that the counsel received from above will be one of mercy, and not of wrath and vengeance. And as we work with God's wise council, it works mercy through us towards others instead of vengeance.

-    It is without partiality. It is fair, just and true. God is an impartial judge, and from His impartially, he counsels us to make decisions that are impartial, and ultimately just, especially in our relation with others.
-    It is without hypocrisy. The behavior of doing something you tell others not to do is a constant with God. This is one attitude Christ condemned in the Pharisees (Matthew 23:29), and it would be unreasonable to think that He would instruct His people to be hypocrites. Don’t forget that His counsel is just, and reasonable. So whatever counsel with which He counsels us, He expects us to counsel others (2 Timothy 2:2).

The wisdom of God works life in us (Proverbs 8:35), and we should seek it earnestly.

Keep winning daily.

Prayer:

Dear Father, thank You for your wisdom made available to me as a sign of Your love towards me. Thank You that with the application of Your wisdom I can be more like You, and You can be glorified through me. Help me to always seek Your wisdom, and not rely on myself, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
