When Jacob was about to go meet his elder brother Esau, he was afraid because of what he did to him before he left home (he stole his birthright and blessing). Gen 25:29-34, 27:26-29. Jacob knew that there must be a change, something has to be done. He knew if he should meet his brother like that without a change, there would be problem.
Joel and Victoria Osteen’s daily July 31, 2017 devotional – Lacking Nothing
Today’s Scripture: "Knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing." – (James 1:3-4, NKJV)
Topic: Lacking Nothing [Monday July 31, 2017]
God wants you to be perfect and complete, living in His abundance, and lacking nothing on this earth. That may seem like a stretch from where you are today. It may seem far off; but in an instant, things can turn around. God has set up a system of blessing for you, and it starts with His Word. The Bible says that God has given each of us a measure of faith. We all have faith, and it’s up to us to develop it. Romans 10:17 says that faith grows as we read and study His Word. Faith, in turn, produces patience, and when we allow patience to have its perfect work in us, we will lack no good thing.
Our Daily Manna July 31, 2017: ODM devotional – More Than Your Federal Government: He Does Not Owe!
Trust this God and never forget that: “God does not pay at the end of every week or month, but He pays at last.”
Topic — More Than Your Federal Government: He Does Not Owe! [Monday 31 July, 2017]
(Hebrews 11:6-13; Psalm 37:23-26).
William Couper Brain wrote the golden lines below: “No man can be a patriot on an empty stomach.” The above statement can be confirmed by the fact that the Federal Government of Nigeria owed her pensioners billions of Naira. But good news came recently in 2017 when 41.5 billion naira was paid! “Concerned about the plight of pensioners who retired under the Contributory Pension Scheme without being paid, the Federal Government has cleared the inherited arrears of accrued pension benefits for the year 2014, 2015 and 2016 by releasing N41.5 billion to the National Pension Commission, PENCOM, for onward payment of the retires” , Minister of Finance Mrs. Kemi Adeosun disclosed. Great news but consider the three years of no food on their tables! I can imagine how many pensioners died before this payment was made!
Joyce Meyer's Daily 31 July 2017 Devotional - Kingdom Living
Topic: Kingdom Living [Monday July 31, 2017]
[After all] the kingdom of God is not a matter of [getting the] food and drink [one likes], but instead it is righteousness (that state which makes a person acceptable to God) and [heart] peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. — Romans 14:17
God’s kingdom is made up of things far greater and more beneficial than worldly possessions. God does bless us with material possessions, but the kingdom is much more than that: It is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Facing Life-Threatening Illness with God at Your Side
God sent his only son, Jesus Christ, to earth, whose short but exemplary life was the standard by which all Christians aspire to. Christ’s death was the ultimate sacrifice our Lord could make but also one that Christ himself questioned. Matthew 27:46 reports that, exhausted and desperate while nailed to the cross he asked his Father “with a loud voice, ‘Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?’ which means ‘My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?’” Of course, God had not abandoned Jesus. Subsequently to his death, Christ was resurrected. Luke 24 contains a long passage about finding that the stone had been rolled away from Jesus’ tomb yet Christ’s body was nowhere to be found. When He was resurrected, He visited his disciples and told them, ““How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” In his new life, Christ clearly saw that his suffering was part and parcel of the greater glory – that which saved all mankind.

And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 2 Timothy 2:2
What is leadership if it does not produce successive leaders. A leader who do not produce worthy and even better leader as successor cannot be said to have lead well. It is incumbent on every leader to produce a better version of himself amongst those he is leading. Jesus Christ understood this, that was why "He ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach" (Mark 3:11). And when they started preaching, people got to know they've been with Jesus (Acts 4:13). And, you see, Jesus reproduced greater versions of Himself in His disciples, that was why they could do greater things (John 14:12). This should be the aim of every leader.

When we suffer and die for Christ it only means that we will begin living with him in heaven. — 2 Timothy 2:11 (TLB)
I have a friend who during the Depression lost his job, a fortune, a wife, and a home. But he tenaciously held to his faith—the only thing he had left. One day he stopped to watch some men doing stonework on a huge church. One of them was chiseling a triangular piece of stone. “What are you going to do with that?” asked my friend.

Luke 16:15 "And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God."
LUKE 16:14-15
Justification is not something to be earned, but a gift to be received. Seeking to earn salvation is the only sin that will prevent a person from being saved, because you cannot submit yourself to the righteousness of God which comes as a gift through faith as long as you are seeking to establish your own righteousness.

From the account of the story of the 12 spies, you will discover that 10 out of the 12 spies saw themselves as grasshoppers, but there were 2 men who thought differently. These were 2 people who knew who they were in God. These were 2 people who dared to believe the word of God. These 2 people must have said to themselves, if God told us that the land was flowing with milk and honey and we saw that, then the fact that He has given us the land too must be true. They valued the word of God above their natural strength and capability.

Our Daily Manna July 30, 2017: ODM devotional – The Thief That Was Envied!
What you don’t qualify for shall become your possession by the mercy of God from this day! What is hard for others will become bread for you!
Topic: The Thief That Was Envied! [Sunday 30 July, 2017]
(Hebrews 11:8-16)
Welcome to today’s devotional encounter! It is just so amazing that the Lord would allow a common criminal who probably had sent some innocent souls to an early grave, to make paradise in 24 hours! Remember that Moses with all his 80 days fasting (He did 40 days twice), could barely make it to the Promised Land. In fact, at his death, Satan was demanding an illegal hold on his body (Jude:9) and he nearly sent him to hell instead of Paradise. It took a strong archangel, Michael, to deliver Moses into paradise. Yet this thief-turned-believer made paradise in 24 hours. That was the same paradise that Abraham entered by the delay of a quarter of a century in waiting for Isaac.

Billy Graham’s Daily 30 July 2017 Devotional - A Covenant With Eyes
Topic: A Covenant With Eyes [Sunday July 30, 2017]
Keep thyself pure. — 1 Timothy 5:22
Someone has said, “You cannot help the first look, but the second is sin.” Jesus indicated that you can engage in immorality by a look. The Bible places the “lust of the eye” right along with other major sins. Listen: “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” Peter spoke of having “eyes full of adultery.” No wonder Job said, “I have made a covenant with my eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?” Your eyes see only what your soul allows them to see.

Ese Ehimare Dave
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 2 Timothy 4:2
There is one thing that is paramount for us and that is preaching the gospel. This importance was emphasized in 2 Corinthians 5:17-18, when, after we are made new creatures, we were immediately handed the task of reconciling men unto God. "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation." This shows the immediacy God attaches to the preaching of the gospel.

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19. Read: - Matt 6:33
There are so many benefits a true ambassador stands to gain from his or her own government. But first and foremost, the interest of the government that sent an ambassador must be the most important thing in his or her life. He or she must do everything possible to see that the interest and the protection of his or her fellow countrymen is guaranteed. Any ambassador that fails in his or duty must face the music. When you fail in your responsibility to your government, you are on your own. If you abandon your country's interest and begin to run after shadow, your country would also abandon their own commitments towards you.

The unjust steward was covetous. He had not been faithful to his master or to his master's debtors. He had wasted his master's goods on himself. When found out, his self-serving nature considered the options, and decided there had to be a change. “But there is forgiveness with thee that thou mayest be feared.’’ Psalm 130:4 (KJV)
This scriptural text says it is God’s forgiveness that causes us to fear Him. It is not His judgment. This sounds contradictory. I thought that we take people for granted when they easily forgive. It is the man with the cane that is feared and not the one with a heart of love. This situation is true in the natural but when you understand the true love of God, then you will understand the power of the love that keeps you from sin.

And he said, The Lord’s arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Syria. For you shall smite the Syrians in Aphek till you have destroyed them. Then he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said to the king of Israel, Strike on the ground. And he struck three times and stopped. Never allow an event that went wrong somewhere along the line to define your life, because all your sins past, present and future have been forgiven. For as long as you do not know this, the devil will continue to accuse and condemn you. Today’s devotional story is what I consider to be a “Metaphor” ( a story in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable) or “Hyperbole” ( amplified story or claim no meant to be taken literally) depending on which angle you view it from. Such a story will be used from time to time in our devotional stories just as our Master, the Lord Himself, used parables to teach:
DCLM Daily Manna 28 July, 2017 by Pastor Kumuyi - Enduring Work
Topic: Enduring Work [Friday July 28, 2017]
Text: Judges 2:6-10
Key Verse: "And the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the LORD, that he did for Israel" (Judges 2:7).
Abraham Lincoln, one of the greatest American presidents in history, once said: "Give me six hours to chop down a tree, and I will spend the first four sharpening my axe." This underscores the importance of preparation in any endeavour in life, if a worthwhile feat is to be achieved. Joshua spent the better part of his life preparing for the task of leading the children of Israel into the promised land.

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivered him from them all.’’ - Psalm 34:19
Your afflictions may be so many, but you shall be delivered from them all. No matter the attacks in your office, business, finances, marriage, health, or school, you are assured that it will turn out for your good. You are coming out in Jesus name.
