Topic: Don’t Take God Out Of The Equation — Tuesday October 3, 2017.
“And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.” (Luke 12:18-19 KJV)
Listen to what this man was saying. I will do this and I will say to my soul. He owns himself! Everything there is about himself, his effort, his expertise, his connection, his pedigree and his history. And so God allowed him. I will do this. I will do that! I will go to church when I want. I am not going to listen to the man of God. I will not obey anything. I have only come to church to worship God. I didn’t come to worship any person. I will do what I want. Listen to what God said in verse 20: “But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?” (Luke 12:20 KJV)
In other words, it is foolishness not to recognize, honour, reverence and worship God. It is foolishness not to give God the prime place in your life. When there are storms all over the place, it is foolishness to think your connections will be enough to see you through. It is foolishness to think it is your pedigree or your family background that will give you victory. The word of God declares that “… for by strength shall no man prevail” (1 Samuel 2:9 KJV)
There are many people today that are depending on the things they have. I drive good cars. I have good houses. I have a fat bank account. I have a good marriage. I am secured. I have children. What else will I need? What a deception! The last time I checked, my bible still says: “Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.” (Psalms127:1 KJV) Beloved, don’t lay a wrong foundation for your life. Victory in life is not about you. Ultimately, victory proceeds from God.
