Handling Family Challenges (4) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo
Topic: Handling Family Challenges (4)
Dear Reader,
You are welcome to the concluding part of this series for the month. It is my prayer that by subscribing to the remedies prescribed to these common challenges in families, you will experience the sweetness ordained for your family!
However, in concluding this series, I will be teaching on the Challenge of Keeping Wrong Company. The Bible says: He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed (Proverbs 13:20). A man doesn’t have to be foolish himself to be destroyed; all he needs to do is walk with the foolish and soon, the folly of his friend would rub off on him. Walking with a foolish man is as bad as being foolish. It is clear from the above scripture that the company you keep either makes or mars you; it doesn’t leave you the same. A wise man once said, “You will remain what you are today in five years’ time, except for the books you read and the company you keep”.

Commitment To Your Spouse (4) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo
Topic: Commitment To Your Spouse (4)
Dear Reader,
May the peace of God be with you in Jesus name! There is no doubt you have been blessed by this subject of commitment ever since we started this month. Give God a chance by putting to work the things you are reading in this article. Our God is a God of liberation and second chance; He will give you a new beginning, if you let Him! Today, I shall be teaching on the subject: The Place of Voice and Action in Commitment to Your Spouse.
A commitment to love your spouse is not complete until you give voice and action to it. Men can never understand what these three simple words, “I love you” can do to a woman. That is why surprisingly, some men find it difficult to give voice to their commitment.

Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Since the month began, I have been teaching on prayer as a key to meeting your needs; thereby establishing lasting peace in your home. Here, I will conclude the teaching by giving you more Benefits of Prayer. I am sure that you will be blessed.

Commitment To Your Spouse (3) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo
Topic: Commitment To Your Spouse (3)
Dear Reader,
Calvary greetings to you in the name of Jesus Christ! Since the month began, I have discussed on commitment being the bedrock of a successful home. Last week, I did explain to you how you can be committed to your spouse by treating him/her as yourself. This week, I want to focus on Benefits of Commitment.
1. It provokes love
Love is one of the benefits of commitment. Love is the instrument that God has put in the hand of man to be committed to his marriage. A husband’s primary responsibility is that of loving his wife and commitment provokes love. Where there is commitment to God and to one’s spouse, love becomes automatic. Commitment is like a driving force, pushing the husband to love his wife. The Bible says: Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for It (Ephesians 5:25).

Effective Family Altar (3) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo
Topic: Effective Family Altar (3)
Dear Reader,
You are welcome once again to this column. If you have been following my teachings since the beginning of this month, I believe God is already doing great things in your life. Last week, I taught on Consistency in Prayer as a tool for establishing lasting peace in your home. This week, I want to show you some of the Benefits of Prayer.
What are the Benefits of Prayer?
1. Direction
Prayer is communicating with God; you speak to Him and he speaks to you. This is where some people miss it. They pray and never wait to hear from God, yet they expect Him to just do what they want. Most times, what people call afflictions in their marriage or homes is nothing but ignorance. The treatment for ignorance is wisdom and understanding. In fact, the Bible says: Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: (Proverbs 24:3).

Handling Family Challenges (2) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo
Topic: Handling Family Challenges (2)
Dear Reader,
You are most welcome to another interesting edition of these series of teachings. Last week, I started a teaching on the topic: Handling Family Challenges. I also defined some terms and gave an example of the challenge of unforgiveness and how to properly handle it in the family. This is simply through unconditional forgiveness. This week, I shall be showing you another challenge and how to handle it for a successful family life.
There are millions of families hurting because they are ignorant of God’s plan for their family. Some are undergoing untold heartaches, breakdowns and physical combats; yet seeking for peace, joy and fulfilment and at the same time groping in darkness. Some end up breaking up the family only to experience hurts and wounds while others stay married because of the children but go through shameful and hurtful experiences.

Commitment To Your Spouse (2) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo
Topic: Commitment To Your Spouse (2)
Dear Reader,
It is another wonderful time in God’s presence! It is my prayer that at the end of this teaching, you will be effectively committed to your family to the point of reaping its rewards. Last week, I shared with you on the importance of, first, being committed to God and then your spouse. This week, I want to teach on another aspect of showing commitment to your spouse which is titled: Treat Your Spouse as Yourself.
It is important to know that as husband and wife, God recognises you as one. Two becoming one is God’s own arithmetic. An understanding of the mystery of one flesh will make husband and wife treat each other the same way, they would treat their original self. The Bible says:

Handling Family Challenges (1) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo
Topic: Handling Family Challenges (1)
Dear Reader,
Happy New Year! It is the first edition for the year and it holds many blessings for you. It is my prayer that all that God intents for your family this year be achieved in Jesus’ name! From recent observations, it is clear that topmost on the counselling list of churches and centres are family-related issues. Many people have questions on the family for which few people seem to have adequate answers to. The general impression is that no human being can enjoy total success in family life.

Effective Family Altar (1) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo
Topic: Effective Family Altar (1)
Dear Reader,
Happy New Year! It is the start of a new era for you and your family, as God is set to make all things brand new for you. The Bible says concerning your family this year: And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name (Isaiah 62:2).This is God’s sure words to you and it must be fulfilled in Jesus’s name!
However, you must understand that to see God’s Word fulfilled in your life and family, you must be ready to war with scriptures. This means contending for those blessings laid in store for you. We understand from Scripture that …a great door and effectual is opened…, and there are many adversaries (1 Corinthians 16:9). These adversaries are strategically positioned to block your access from that which God has already packaged for you, so you must fight to see that you receive what belongs to you.

Prayer is a spiritual weapon that can be used to instill discipline in children. Prayer power makes child training easy, because it moulds them spiritually. As a Christian parent, who desires disciplined children, you must spend time to pray with and for your children daily.

Becoming A ‘Help Meet’ (5) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo
Topic — Becoming A ‘Help Meet’ (5)
Dear Reader,
We have been examining what it means to be a help meet and the various roles that are expected to be fulfilled in order to be an effective one. Today, I will be showing you some of the benefits you stand to gain in return.
God’s Word in Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 says: Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie together then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

The Home: An Institution For Child Training (4) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo
Topic — The Home: An Institution For Child Training (4)
Dear Reader,
This week, we will examine one of the essential parts of child training – Discipline!
Discipline means training a child to be obedient and self-controlled. It is important for you to understand that for child-training to be effective and efficient, discipline must be instilled. Until discipline is added to training, it remains only a teaching.
The Bible says: He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity (Job 36:10). Two things are mentioned in this scripture: the opening of the ear to discipline and returning from iniquity. If you do not want iniquity to be associated with your children, first, you must open their ears to discipline.

Becoming A ‘Help Meet’ (4) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo
Topic — Becoming A ‘Help Meet’ (4)
Dear Reader,
Merry Christmas to you! The festive season is here again, it is my prayer that you receive the special package God has ordained for this season! By now, I believe you have been able to ascertain your position as a ‘help meet’ and to locate the area where you might have been hurting instead of helping your spouse. If you have not done that, I want you to do so right now, and ask God for grace to be a true help meet.
Today, I shall be teaching on Operating in Wisdom as a ‘Help Meet.’
Marriage can be likened to a house, and every house is built by men, using certain building materials. Wisdom is a good quality material for building your marriage and home. The Bible says: Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established (Proverbs 24:3).

The Home: An Institution For Child Training (3) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo
Topic — The Home: An Institution For Child Training (3)
Dear Reader,
In previous teachings, we saw the home as the first institution for child training and positive examples as the tool for raising great children. The teaching this week shall focus on an interesting subject titled: God’s Command to Teach.
From the beginning, God instructed parents to teach their children. Addressing the ancient Israelites, God said: And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up (Deuteronomy 6:6-7).

Family Dominion, How Possible? (3) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo
Topic: Family Dominion, How Possible? (3)
Dear Reader,
Last week, I showed you how unity among family members fosters family dominion.
This week, our teaching centres on Rest! God assures believers of a place of rest in Him. He says you have been battered and wounded enough; thus, come unto Me and obtain rest for your soul. The Bible says: There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God (Hebrews 4:9). That is, you can enjoy rest in your family life, career, business, finances and children because a family that is restful is one that can exercise dominion.
You may ask, “Where is this place of rest, how do I get there and what does it take to get there?” These are the things I want to bring across to you. I pray that your eyes of understanding will be enlightened and every form of unrest in your family life will be destroyed in Jesus’ name!
