Topic: Be Faithful With A Little – Monday August 28, 2017.

Luke 19:12-13 "He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come."

Text: Luke 19:11-27

The main purpose of this parable is to show that there would be a long period when Jesus would go away before returning to fulfill the prophecy about a physical kingdom on earth.

Blessed is he who considers the poor. Psalm 41:1 nkjv

John Newton wrote, “If, as I go home, a child has dropped a halfpenny, and if, by giving it another, I can wipe away its tears, I feel I have done something. I should be glad to do greater things; but I will not neglect this.”

If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered. - John 15:6

If I were to ask you to make a list of a hundred things you need to do to please the Lord today, you could do it, couldn’t you? In fact, you probably have so many spiritual “dos” and “don’ts” cluttering up your mind that you’d hardly know where to start.

Scripture: And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear… But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. Luke 8:8,15

Thought For The Day: The guilt of sin chokes the Word of God; it chokes faith.

Faith is a living seed that grows. It has life and that life has the ability to grow (Matthew 17:20). It has been confirmed that a good seed in the wrong environment cannot survive, it does not matter how good the seed is, and that includes the seed of faith.

Text: Exodus 21:1-17

Key Verse: "And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death" (Exodus 21:17).

Our society is fast moving away from sanity. Daily, the news media are awash with abominable tales that were unheard of only a few years back. Apart from the great moral breakdown occasioned by the New Age Movement, Post-modernism and Secular Humanism teachings prevalent today, there is a new form of rebellion where children are rising up against their parents, resisting every form of control and restriction. God wanted the nation of Israel to live a more organised life different from other nations around. This was why He gave them moral laws to ensure an orderly society where the sanctity of human life and rights of every person are respected.

TREM’s Daily 28 August 2017 Devotional by Dr. Mike Okonkwo - Prosper and Be in Health

Topic: Prosper and Be in Health — Monday August 28, 2017.

“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” 3 John 2 (KJV)

God’s paramount desire for you as a believer is the prosperity and health of your spirit, soul and body. He desires that every part of you function in the perfection for which He has created it. That is not negotiable. For instance, when an individual is sick, everything is put on hold to treat the body. Yes, I understand that man is a spirit being, but our bodies give us the license to function here on earth. The body is the vehicle through which you fulfil God’s plan and purpose here on earth. So proper care and attention must be given to the body.

Topic — The French Do Not Swallow: Meditation Power Secrets! [Sunday 27 August, 2017]

(Joshua 1:1-9)

I learnt years ago that the French eat a lot of saturated fat, yet they are more lean ( slimmer) than the Americans and far less likely to be obese. Their diseases are half that of Americans and they have a lower obesity rate than other country in the European Union. According to the UC Berkeley Wellness Letter, research conducted in restaurants in Paris and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, showed that French meals were considerably smaller. The most impressive finding was that the French take longer time to eat their smaller portions. The average french person spends nearly 100 minutes daily just eating, while Americans ‘swallow’ their daily bread in only 60 minutes. The conclusion? Take time to enjoy your food and eat slowly!

Winning Wisdom: Truth and Love

Topic: Truth and Love [Sunday, 27th August 2017]

But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.  Ephesians 4:15

The truth is very important for growth. Without the truth, there may be growth, but such growth would not be sustainable. Matthew 6:22-23 says: “the light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!” The light in a person’s eyes may be darkness when such light is not the right light they ought to receive. So, when the knowledge one is getting for growth is not the right one, such growth will be disastrous.

Topic: Calm in Adversity [Sunday August 27, 2017]

Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man whom You discipline and instruct, O Lord, and teach out of Your law, that You may give him power to keep himself calm in the days of adversity.... – Psalm 94:12-13

According to Exodus 13:17, When Pharaoh let the people go, God led them not by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was nearer (emphasis added). There was a shorter route, but God took the Israelites the long, hard way on purpose because they were not ready for the battles they would face. He continued to work with them during forty years of wandering, waiting for them to get to the point where they could praise Him in their adversity.

Billy Graham’s Daily 27 August 2017 Devotional - The Secret of Surrender

Topic: The Secret of Surrender — Sunday August 27, 2017

Just as you used to be slaves to all kinds of sin, so now you must let yourselves be slaves to all that is right and holy. — Romans 6:19 (TLB)

We have heard the modern expression, “Don’t fight it-it’s bigger than both of us.” Those who are meek do not fight back at life. They learn the secret of surrender, or yielding to God. He then fights for us! Instead of filling your mind with resentments, abusing your body by sinful diversion, and damaging your soul by willfulness, humbly give all over to God. Your conflicts will disappear and your inner tensions will vanish into thin air. Then your life will begin to count for something. You will have the feeling of belonging to life. Boredom will melt away, and you will become vibrant with hope and expectation. Because you are meekly yielded, you will begin to “inherit the earth” of good things, which God holds in store for all who trust Him with their all.

Luke 19:8 "And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold."

Text: Luke 19:1-8

Zacchaeus was rich but Jesus made no demands for him to give away all his goods to the poor as He did with the rich young ruler. Zacchaeus had already repented and money was no longer his god, as was revealed by his actions. It seems that Zacchaeus was going above and beyond the requirement of restitution as stated in Mosaic law by offering to give half of his goods to the poor and to repay fourfold for his theft.
