God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:24
Scriptures say in Psalm 16:11 that "...in the presence of God, there is fullness of joy..." That is, in God's presence, where a gathering is held in His name, there is an expression of joy. Joy is an emotion. But it is not with the shouting and jumping that is called joy. Joy is a state of mind, and it is expressed in diverse ways. But we've tagged shouting and jumping to the only expression of joy in church. And then, we assume that when we do those, then God will show up in the gathering.
When we gather, it is a coming together of people who carry the presence of God. This gathering is not restricted to a church meeting. It can be anywhere and it can also be the most casuals of gathering. But as long as it is with two people who call upon the name of Jesus, He is present there. Scriptures talk about the Angel of His presence, in Isaiah 63:9, saving the Israelites. It is not referring to an angel, but God's Spirit. And scriptures made this clear in Isaiah 63:10, when it says "...and they grieve the Holy Spirit.."
The Holy Spirit is the Angel of His presence, that is, He is the one who carries the presence of God, and anywhere He is, the presence of God is there. And we know that the Holy Spirit resides in us. Which means we are now filled with the presence of God. So when we gather, either on purpose or casually, God is there with us because He is in us. And because He is there, there will be fullness of joy, which can be expressed in different ways, depending on the individual, like singing, making sweet sounds to the Lord, crying or weeping. Also, worshipping in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody in our heart unto the Lord (Ephesians 5:18).
Keep winning daily.
Prayer:
Thank You Lord Jesus for Your Spirit, Who brings Your presence to me and to every gathering in Your name. Your presence is a blessing unto us, and we revel in it, expressing the fullness of joy that it brings, in divers ways, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
