LESSON INTRODUCTION - The Hebrew and Greek words translation of ‘Salvation’ are ‘Yashuwah’ and ‘Soteria’ respectively. This word is used for the deliverance of the Israelites from the Egyptians {Ex 14:13} and for deliverance generally from evil or danger. In the New Testament, it is specially used with reference to the great deliverance from the guilt and the pollution of sin wrought out by Jesus Christ, ‘the great salvation’ (Heb 2:3).
TEXT REVIEW : JOHN 3 : 3-8 KJV
1.The issue of salvation is not as trivial as some people might think or posit. In the view of Nicodemus, it simply meant entering into the mother’s womb and be re-born. John 3 : 4 No, Jesus disapproved this human-based proposal.
¡¡.Salvation also goes beyond mental draft of scenario and it is not evasive. Jesus said the wind bloweth where it listeth John 3 : 8a. It is not customised or limited to a particular person, group or association. It is purely a show of mercy from the Lord to whoever accepts it .John 3 : 8b.
¡¡¡. Salvation is not factored to age or years or positions in the society or church otherwise one would have persumed that people like Nicodemus, a Pharisees and ruler of Jew, would have been saved. But he was ignorant of the subject. The Lord Jesus too was surprised at his ignorance. John 3 : 1, 10. Find the following truth about salvation
a. It is real. Verily, verily I say unto you” John 3 : 3, 11.
b. It is a mandatory visa to heaven. “Except a man be born again, he can not see the kingdom of heaven. John 3 : 36.
c. It is spiritual. “That which is born of the spirit is spirit” John 3 : 6.
d. It is available for those who want it. “Whosoever” John 3 : 16.
e. It is obtained through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ” whosoever believeth in him (Jesus) shall have eternal life” John 3 : 16.
