Topic: Be A Blessing To Others — Wednesday September 27, 2017.
“When thou cuttest down thine harvest in thy field, and hast forgot a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fetch it: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hands.” - (Deuteronomy 24:19 KJV)
In the Bible days, what they had was an agrarian society. And God instructed them not to clean out everything when harvesting. God said this on purpose so that something will be left for other people who may not be in a position to provide for themselves. In other words, don’t clean the plate, leave some pieces of meat. The bible is teaching us the way of life.
When you remember where you are coming from and how you yourself walked the streets of Lagos with only one trouser; and now God has given you many trousers, then you will bring out one and say Lord show me who to bless today. You will bring out one wrapper and say Lord show me who to bless today. Do you know why you don’t do it? You don’t know who has a need. And you don’t know because there is no fellowship. Do you think because when they say everyone shout alleluia, everyone shouts and you think that is how it is. There are people in the church who don’t have anything to eat. When you are shouting alleluia, some are wondering, how am I going to feed my children? But if you are sensitive, and remember where you are coming from, you will reach out and bless them.
Life is about impacting other people. The question you should ask yourself today is: ‘Who am I touching?’ ‘Who am I blessing?’ Everyone can be a blessing. It could be a smile. It could be a prayer. It could be a handshake. It could be a gift. Why are you in this life? Why do you think that God kept you alive? It is not about showing off. It is about fulfilling a purpose.
