TREM’s Daily 30 August 2017 Devotional by Dr. Mike Okonkwo - Rest Your Case at the Feet of Christ

Topic: Rest Your Case at the Feet of Christ — Wednesday August 30, 2017.

“And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet” Mark 5:22 (KJV)

The Bible says Jairus the law keeper fell at the feet of Jesus. It means he rested at the feet of Christ. He was saying: “At your feet, I rest my case. If I can’t get answers at your feet, then I am finished”. That is what the Lord has called us to do- to rest at His feet. When Ruth rested at the feet of Boaz, her troubles ended. When Simon Peter rested on Jesus, he caught the fish he could not catch when he had toiled, laboured and did all kinds of things, through the night. He came with the right tool and at the right time, he had the right partners but caught nothing because man’s effort cannot take you far. But when he rested at the feet of Jesus, he received a net breaking miracle.

Beloved, we are called to rest and not to toil. If you can work it out, you don’t need Jesus. It is because you couldn’t work it out that Jesus came. Do you know He is the only one who came to die? He is the only one who was born to die. He was not born to live. He was born to die so that you and I can live. So His birth is totally different from any other birth.

Jairus came and fell at the feet of Jesus. He said please come heal my daughter who is sick and at the point of death. And Jesus went with him. Jesus is a very present help in the time of need. Every time you need Him, He is there. Jesus did not mock Jairus neither did He castigate him. He did not tell him by the way, Jairus have you fasted seven days? He did not ask him, “Have you prayed enough or have you given enough?” No! He simply went with him and restored his daughter. That is grace at work. That same grace is available to you today. Stop struggling, surrender and let Him take it over.
