Topic: Children like Arrows! [Sunday March 29, 2015]
“Children born to a young man are like sharp arrows to defend him.” -Psalm 127:4 (TLB)
How special the addition of a child is to a family cannot be verbally expressed or even imagined. Little wonder you see the smiles on the faces of the parents when a new baby is born; especially when it is their first. That is not to say that all children don’t bring joy, but there is something very special about the first time new life begins for a couple; and this is though their child.
Children are wonderful gifts to the home. They bring with them a new sense of responsibility for the parents, blessings and even open doors. They have a way of teaching you, unknown to them, things that you never would learn if you didn’t have them. They always bring out the hidden skills in you that would have remained untapped if you didn’t have them.
I have seen children mend broken homes and change their parents’ experiences in businesses and careers; all by privilege from God. No wonder the Bible says children are like quivers (arrows) in the hand of a mighty warrior. As arrows, they are targeted to and aim at bringing to you all what God has ordained for you.
This is why you must treat every child special. Just as arrows are in different shapes, sizes and effect, all children are not the same. You should not compare them with one another. You must identify their uniqueness and build on that to get the best out of them. No matter the circumstances surrounding their birth, you should bear in mind that God has brought them your way to bring blessing and favour to you.
When you dwell on this understanding, you are sure to derive the blessings God has prepared for you through their coming. It is the inability of parents to see the worth in every child that makes them misuse this great opportunity given to them by God. I pray that your eyes will be opened today, so that you may see the uniqueness in your child. Only then will you understand why God has sent that child your way.
Do all it takes to see that every potential that child carries is harnessed and fully utilised. Through your support and love for your child(ren), you will see them accomplish great feats; feats that will surpass your imagination, in Jesus name. You will not fail in this assignment!
Remain Blessed!
