The Kogi State Government has set up a Committee to investigate the reasons that led to the accident involving a bus conveying fifty-four  students and four teachers of Faith Academy Secondary School, Zango-Daji, and a Dangote Trailer on Sunday, which led to the death of one of the students, and several others severely injured.

Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, stated this when he paid a scheduled visit to the Faith Academy, Zango-Daji as well as to those who are injured and are still receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre and Specialist Hospital, Lokoja.

The government, Awoniyi explained, has asked for inventories of all those involved in the accidents, said the State Government shares in the pain of the family that lost their loved one, and prayed God to strengthen the students and their parents in this moment of grief.

Awoniyi assured of efforts that will nip in the bud incessant cases of road accidents involving articulated trucks in the state capital, cautioned drivers against excessive speed and wrongful overtaking.

In his response, Ipinyomi Amos, Principal, Faith Academy, Zango-Daji, commended the State government for sharing in their grief, said the students who were on their way to Church on Sunday were involved in an accident with a Dangote truck, said those injured are responding to treatment.

The Deputy Governor had earlier visited the injured at the FMC and specialist Hospital Lokoja.  He was accompanied on the visit by the Secretary to the Government, Commissioners of Transport, Education and the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health.
