‘After Jonathan, I remain Asari': ex-militant leader pledges ‘friendship’ to Buhari

Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, an ex-militant who previously threatened to unleash violence on the country if President Goodluck Jonathan lost the presidential election, has promised to support any government in power.

A big supporter of Jonathan, Asari-Dokubo had taken to the campaign trail to ensure the President wins reelection.

But moments after it became clear that Muhammadu Buhari had won the election, the former militant leader said he was a “friend to any government in power”.

“I’m not a creation of Jonathan,” he wrote on Twitter. “Before Jonathan, there was Asari. After him there, will be Asari. I’m a friend to any government in power.”
