Pastor Faith Oyedepo: Tuesday September 29, 2015 Daily Devotional – Set Yourself Free

Topic: Set Yourself Free [Tuesday 29 September, 2015]

“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”-2 Corinthians 10:5

Have you ever considered how often you may need to be reminded of things that were said in the past but hardly ever need the same reminders for the things you once saw? I have had instances where I find myself in a scene I feel I have witnessed in the past. In such instances, I don’t need the reminders of others because I am witnessing what I before SAW. This is the power in pictures.

Pictures make specific imprints on our mind, making scenes/ situations easy to remember, at will. So many people have been influenced either negatively or positively by the pictures they allowed into their minds. Some have no intention of defiling themselves, but the negative movies, magazines and/or online pictures they view daily, would not make them take a lasting decision to quit their negative lifestyle.

Some others have even prayed and fasted, and still find themselves in that habit they have longed to be free from. If only you would caution the pictures you allow into your mind; the movies, magazines and websites you visit; if only you would caution what your eyes see daily, your freedom, though not instant, will be lasting. Pictures are so powerful that at times, you find yourself ruminating over them for weeks. It is then this constant appearance in your mind that makes it transcend into action. When your actions are repeated, it graduates into habit and it is this habit you spend endless seasons fighting back; when it could have been prevented early on.

Prevention, they say, is better than cure. I know you are flooded daily with negative pictures by the media and other publications, but thank God you have an eyelid to prevent your eyes from seeing such, a neck to turn your face from it and legs to run when situations are beyond what you can handle. Your life is a product of your mind, so you must guard it with all diligence. You will not fall victim in the name of Jesus Christ!

Remain Blessed!
