Kogi State Governor Capt Idris Wada gave the assurance at this year's final of the Governor Wada Academic Excellence competition for schools and colleges in the state.
The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, said education offers young people the opportunity to explore, learn and dream of a better future for themselves and to change their lives positively, assured that the present administration will provide the basic tools that will ensure that young people acquire quality education that will aid in transforming the state and nation in general.
Capt Wada, pointed out that it is only through investing in education, that a child is given a chance for a healthier, and a more hopeful future, said education remains a vital tool of the present administration in empowering young people to break away from the circle of poverty.
Capt Wada, commended the brilliance displayed by the participating students and schools in the essay and quiz competition, said it is only through acquiring education that they can make a sustainable difference in their lives.
Capt Wada assured of the on going renovation of schools as well as the provision of basic infrastructures that will aid teaching and learning, commended the Project Director of Midas, the co-organizers of the quiz competition, Mr Mike Onoja, for partnering with government to raise the quality education in the State.
The Governor expressed happiness at the level of brilliance and intelligence the participating schools showcased, said this years competition has shown that government's huge investment in the education sector by the present administration is yielding the desired result, and assured the administration's support in sustaining the competition.
Earlier in her remarks, Dr Agnes Okai, Kogi State Commissioner for Education said G-WAEC offers young students and undergraduates the needed platform to show case their talents and potentials, and commended the massive investment by the present administration in providing quality and affordable education in the state.
In a welcome remarks, Mr Mike Onoja, Project Director of Midas, and the co- organizer of G-WAEC quiz competition, said this years competition, with the title: The role of Youths in credible election, takes a look at what is expected of youths in achieving a violent free and credible election in 2015, praised the efforts of the Capt Wada administration in making the youths of the state gainfully employed.
