Over 2000 PDP members defect to APC in Nasarawa

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has received leaders of over 2,000 decamped members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into its fold.

Leading the PDP decampees was a former aspirant in the just concluded Nasarawa PDP governorship primary, Senator John Danboyi, among other top PDP members in Akwanga Local Government.

The purpose of the PDP decampees, who are mostly from the Mada tribe, was to support the decision of the Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko Al-Makura, who has picked one of their kinsmen as his running mate, in spite of the political impasse with his deputy who is also a Mada.

Satisfied with their reception into the APC, Senator Danboyi apologized to the Governor for the betrayal of their son, the former Deputy Governor, and thanked him for choosing another Mada son, Mr Silas Agara, as his running mate in next month’s election.

The elated governor, while receiving the PDP decampees into the APC, promised a grand reception for them with the APC presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, in attendance on January 17 in Lafia.
