A former Minister of Defence, Theophilus Danjuma, has asked for the arrest of refurbished Niger Delta militant, Mujaheed Asari-Dokubo, who has repeatedly called for war and the disintegration of Nigeria if President Jonathan isn’t re-elected next month. Asari-Dokubo’s latest call to arms came during a recent meeting of the Ijaw nation last week.
Commissioning the multibillion naira Kwankwasiyya city in Kano, at the behest of his host, the Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, T.Y Danjuma said Dokubo should be arrested without delay for calling for anarchy and violence at a time the nation needed neither.
“You should arrest Asari Dokubo, Tompolo, Boyloaf and other Niger Delta militants for making reckless statements, which in any way does not mean keeping Nigeria as one entity and for creating war situation,” he said.
Dokubo had told the press after the Ijaw nation meeting where a presidential aide and a serving Governor were in attendance: “For every Goliath, God created a David. For every Pharoah, there is a Moses. We are going to war. Everyone of you should go and fortify yourself.”
On his part, Boyloaf had stated that there was nothing like ‘one Nigeria’ while stating that it is the oil mined from the country’s rich delta region that keeps the country as one. “Keep grudges and sentiments apart. We are ready to match them bumper to bumper,” Boyloaf had said as the meeting railed againt the attack of the President and his team during recent campaign stops in Bauchi, Katsina and Kano.
Danjuma said the country belongs to everyone and people should be allowed to elect their leaders at the polls without threats of war.
