Alhaji Mohammed Wakil, the Minister of State for Power, on Saturday said that President Goodluck Jonathan has demonstrated true love for Borno with his numerous initiatives aimed at developing the state.
Wakil, who spoke at the PDP presidential rally in Maiduguri, said: “The opposition has been making noise that the president will not visit Borno. But he visited twice this month to show is love for the people.
“The president visited first to condole the victims of the insurgency attack in Baga where he personally met with the Internally Displaced Persons in their camp.
“Today, he is here again to showcase his achievements toward seeking re-election in next month’s elections”.
Wakil also commended Jonathan for approving numerous projects for the state.
“Mr President, we want to thank you for your show of concern to the people of the state over the insurgency problem.
“I want to inform you that work had reached 98 per cent completion on the new power line that you approved for the state”, he said.
Wakil also thanked the president for approving a new 138 KVA transformer for the state.
“We want to thank you for the marching orders given for the restoration of power in Borno after about seven months of blackout.
“We also commend you for implementing developmental projects in the state in spite of the current security challenges”, he said. [NAN]
