President Jonathan plans to send Jega on terminal leave next week - APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it has received information that Attahiru Jega, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), will be directed to proceed on terminal leave next week.

A statement by Adenike Lucas, Press Secretary, APC – UK Chapter, reads: “New plans to remove Professor Attahiru Jega has been revealed, today. It emerged today that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) are planning to remove the INEC chairman by serving him a letter from the head of service directing him to proceed on terminal leave.

We are saying NO to this plan. One might ask us why are we commenting on this allegation but we know the PDP, they are running a film to which they have released it’s script. Just as we saw today at chatham house, their paid protestors who were forewarned about their disgraceful antics, still attended to tarnish the image of the country.

We will not accept the replacement or sidelining of Prof. Jega.

As Senator Geeorge Akume rightly said “Only dishonest politicians fear Jega as chairman of INEC,” Akume added.
.
“We want elections that are credible. We oppose Jega’s removal by the back door. On a daily basis, Jega is being attacked. We condemn what the government wants to do. This is the road to Golgotha. I wonder why they want to destroy this country,” Akume said.
