Topic: Striving for mastery? [Friday September 4, 2015]
“And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things…”-1 Corinthians 9:25
Imagine a football match without a goal post. It would be an endless match without a winner or a loser. There would be no direction and everyone would be wearing themselves out, without a goal. Unfortunately, that’s what people without goals do in life. They play aimless matches, with so much energy but no result. So, they get frustrated because they cannot deduce anything tangible from the effort they are putting in.
You need to be able to define your goal in life. You cannot keep shooting in all directions, without aiming at any object in particular. You might not get anything done. You can be working towards having a big conglomerate or industry, but if you are not targeted towards a particular product or audience, you might not gain success with any. Every man of worth is a man of targets and goals. Having a target is knowing precisely where you are going and directing your energy towards it.
There is no one that does not have a purpose to which he or she was created for. However, it is identifying, constructing a well-defined goal and working diligently towards it that gets you there. So, instead of running everywhere and trying your hands on just everything, sit to identify that one thing you are good at and that defines what you were called for. When that is done, itemize what you stand to gain from it and work towards it.
Stop fighting as one beating the air. You need a goal to make the most of life. It must be a well-defined and quantifiable goal. You should not just pursue everything you see around, because not every opened door is God’s door for you. Get a goal, aim at it and strike! That’s the hallmark to greatness.
Remain Blessed!
