“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:”-Hebrews 10:24
“I have prayed and fasted for him, he just won’t change.” He also admits that he has prayed for her and the situation is still the same.
This may be your situation and yes; there is no doubt that you have both prayed concerning the unity, love and success of your marriage, but the question is: “Are you committed to it?” A successful marriage always requires the commitment of both persons. Without this, no amount of prayer and fasting would prevent it from failing.
Marriage is not a temporary arrangement, but a lifetime commitment to making it work; irrespective of any negative notices and/or changes. There will always be someone prettier than your wife just as there would also be a nicer man than your husband; you may even constantly find those who you think are wealthier than you both, but your commitment to achieving great exploits together, is what makes you stick to your marriage partner, no matter the circumstance.
Commitment to the success of your marriage makes you invest time, energy and resources into it. It also compels you to love unconditionally. However, this commitment should be at the three major levels of your marriage – Spiritual, physical and emotional. Spend time with your spouse in prayer, see to his or her mental development and provide his or her basic needs.
No marriage can succeed without the conscious effort of both parties doing whatever it takes for its success. No one can make it work for you, not even God. Commitment makes you choose the expedient over the lawful. It makes you forgo habits, pleasures and personal times, for the happiness of your home. When you truly come to the state of total commitment to your marriage and family, then you are ready to receive the blessings in marriage. Your commitment in marriage shall be rewarding for you in Jesus’ name!
Remain Blessed!
