Nigeria’s fastest growing and most innovative telecommunications company, Etisalat Nigeria on Saturday, April 25 unveiled the top 12 contestants of its on-going Nigerian Idol Season V at the Dream Studios, Bamako Estate, Omole in Lagos.
The top twelve contestants are Preye, Brenda, Prime, Dolu, K-Peace, Ayoka, Uloma, Classiq Tunez, Sther, PScholes, Modele and Nex 2.
The classy and glamorous unveiling was attended by the crème-de-la- crème in the Nigerian entertainment industry, including veteran Highlife maestro, Orlando Julius and Soulful singer and Winner of the maiden edition of West African Idol, Timi Dakolo.
Speaking at the unveiling, Head, Events and Sponsorship, Modupe Thani expressed her delight at the emergence of the top 12 contestants and urged them to remain focused throughout the competition.
Thani said, "As a youthful and vibrant brand, we seek innovative platforms like Nigerian Idol to deepen our engagement with young people. The contestants have done well and they need to be consistent, focused and bring out that extra act at every opportunity presented to them. "
The 12 contestants collectively thrilled the guests and audience with beautiful performances of ‘It’s Time For Highlife’ and McFadden and Whitehead's, ‘Ain’t No Stopping Us Now. ‘They ended their performances with a fusion of contemporary songs which attracted applauses and a standing ovation from the Judges and guests. The event was also flavoured with a performance of "WoJu" by up-coming act, Kiss Daniel.
The peak of the event was the unveiling of the official video of ‘I’m Naughty’ by winner of the Season IV, vivacious Evelyn Zibili, better known as Evelle. Head, Events and Sponsorship, Modupe Thani concluded by describing the video as "fun, fresh, enigmatic and entertaining.
The winner of this year’s competition will be crowned in June and will go home with N7.5 million, brand new car and a recording deal with Universal Music Company worth N7.5 million, amongst other prizes.
