Topic: What dominates you? [Tuesday April 21, 2015]
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”-Galatians 5:16
If you are familiar with wrestling matches, especially the tag team matches, you know that when one half of the team is losing to his opponent, he calls for his partner with a “hand shake.” When that exchange is done, the stronger one takes over in the ring and continues the fight till there’s a need for another change. This also applies in the spirit realm.
Round the clock, our body and mind wars with the spirit. There is constantly a fight for supremacy but the winner is solely dependent on you. This means that you determine if you would allow your spirit man be in control of the flesh, or yield to the forceful nature of the flesh. Your spirit man will have no power over your flesh unless you first choose to let it, and then empower it. Same goes with your mind.
The body (most especially) usually wants the opposite of what the spirit desires, and it is yielding to its demand that is called sin. God, however, has made a way of escape for you, in person of the Holy Spirit; but you have to walk with Him to overcome the forceful will of the flesh. He is the other stronger partner, waiting for a hand shake to take the opponent in the ring.
When believers fall into temptation, most times, it’s not because they are weak, but because they have decided to fight alone; thereby empowering their flesh to take dominion. The Holy Spirit works with your spirit, and you engage Him majorly by pressing with your spirit man for help. You cannot fight this war on your own; you need the help of the Holy Spirit. One sure way to get it is by praying in His language; that is, in tongues. So, whenever you feel your flesh taking over, you can always stretch forth your hand to your ever dependable partner and call forth for His help. With Him, you can never lose a battle.
Remain Blessed!
