Pastor Faith Oyedepo: Sunday April 19, 2015 Daily Devotional - Being an encouragement to your Child

Topic: Being an encouragement to your Child [Sunday April 19, 2015]

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” -Proverbs 22:6

Child training calls for vigilance and diligence. You must be willing and ready to take up the responsibility, because it is a full time calling. Every child is born with a mission. Perhaps that is why children come with their hands clenched; they come clutching God’s plan in their hands in readiness for fulfilment.

As a parent, you are assigned the responsibility of assisting your child in locating God’s plan for their life; through prayers, Word study and encouragement. You must be involved in seeing to it that they fulfil their calling, to the maximum.

You can do this by watching out prayerfully for their strengths, gifts and talents, and by helping them, with care and love, to pursue that path. Do not leave them to chance or luck, because that is very risky for their glorious future. Your duty as a parent does not only include providing; you have to nurture them towards the right path for their future. That is, by helping them to and/or with their calling.

The future of your child is too precious to be left unattended to. Life is an opportunity that must not be wasted, so you should be spiritually alert to see that your child’s potentials for greatness are maximally harnessed. You are in the best position to encourage your child, so take up that responsibility today.

Remain Blessed!
