Pastor Faith Oyedepo: Saturday April 25, 2015 Daily Devotional - Flee Sexual Temptations

Topic: Flee Sexual Temptations [Saturday April 25, 2015]

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”-1 Corinthians 10:13

Sexual temptation in marriage is real! Contrary to popular opinion, getting married does not curb previous habits of fornication; rather, it merely translates into adultery. However, your decision to strongly flee from all forms of temptation and hold on to the faith you profess is your rescue from every trap of the devil.

Someone once said that the reason why he would not cheat on his wife is not because he loves her, even though he does, or because of the vows he took, but because he has a relationship with the Holy Spirit which he cherishes. He knows that yielding to the temptation of adultery would jeopardize his relationship with the Holy Spirit, so he would not dare it.

That is the kind of mentality you should possess. There is no temptation that is special to you. So, you do not have the excuse that it was beyond your control. Everything is controllable if only you would make a firm decision for Christ and be faithful to it. If you would be disciplined enough to the faith you profess, take it as a lifestyle and not a religion, then grace would come through for you.

However, with discipline comes your being watchful. Be careful of the kind of friends you hang around with, the materials you read, the places you visit, the kind of conversations you have and the thoughts you allow to linger in your mind. All these have been major reasons why people fall cheaply to sexual sins. The devil’s success in your marriage is only due to your inability to stand firm in the Word and love of God. So today, be responsible to yourself and your family by shunning every form of evil. You will not see shame in the name of Jesus!

Remain Blessed!
