Make Good Laws, Kogi Govt. Charges Members Elect

Those newly elected to the Kogi State House of Assembly have been told to see the task before them as greater and are therefore expected to make good laws that will move the state forward.

Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada gave the charge at a five day retreat organized for the sixth  Assembly of Kogi State House of Assembly.

The governor charged the members elect to join hands with the executive and the judicial arms of government towards moving the state to greater heights in terms of physical and human resources transformation.

The governor who was represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, urged the members elect to see their new calling as one requiring hard work, dedication to duty, transparency, accountability and loyalty, insisting that the must contribute their quota towards uplifting the state as the cannot afford to leave the State as the met it.

The governor called on the members elect to make credible laws for good governance of the state, assuring that the retreat was to exposed them to the various intricacies involved in making laws, passing motions and resolutions amongst other bureaucratic/civil service techniques and procedures.
The governor admonished them to take the retreat with the seriousness it deserves, as it will broaden their knowledge and intellectual horizon towards enhancing the performance of their legislative functions when they assume as legislators.

The governor promised his administration's commitment to providing the necessary tools, equipments and other resources that will facilitate the performance of their functions.

While he called on their cooperation towards building the much cherished bridge of unity amongst the people, Capt Wada assured that their group and individual interest will not be taken for levity.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, Hon Ilemona Reuben Idakwoji, Special Adviser to the State Governor on Legislative Matters, called on the members elect to know the needs of their people and sponsor motions and bills that will meet those needs and to make laws for the good governance of the state.

Hon Idakwoji, said the retreat was to better equip the members elect in terms of required knowledge and relevant skills to promote good governance and to enable them perform their functions satisfactorily.
