Kogi Govt assures of judicious utilization of basic Education grant

Kogi State Government has assured of the judicious utilization of the 2012 Universal Basic Education Commission grant it received recently.

Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada gave the assurance when he received a delegation from the National Headquarters of UBEC, led by Dr Yakubu Gambo, Deputy Executive Secretary School Services, who are in the State to assesst he management style of the Kogi State SUBEB.

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, assured of due diligence in the execution of the 2012 UBEC project, commended the intervention of UBEC in improving the physical development of schools in the country.

While noting that the present administration has embarked on the refurbishing of iconic schools across the State, the present administration he added is desirous in transforming the landscape of primary schools in the State.

The Governor said machinery has been put in motion to assess the outstanding 2013, 2014 and 2015, N3 billion UBEC funds belonging to the State, disclosed that no stone would be left unturned in improving the learning condition of schools in the State.

Earlier in his remarks, Dr Yakubu Gambo, Deputy Executive Secretary School Services, UBEC commended Kogi State for its friendly implementation of Basic Education programme, and appealed to the State Government to make efforts towards assessing a N3 billion outstanding 2013, 2014 and 2015 grant that will enable the State improve Basic Education activities.

In a welcome remarks, Alhaji Nuhu Ahmed Executive Chairman, Kogi State SUBEB, said the visit was to enable the UBEC official assess activities of SUBEB in Kogi State, and commended the present administration in the State for its efforts at improving Basic Education in the State through improved learning environment and teaching.
