Topic: Worried? Look here! [Tuesday June 30, 2015]
“Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?”-Matthew 6:27
A popular hymn back in the days reads: “Why worry when you can pray…” Majority of times, people worry more than they pray. They worry about the future: if they would be rich, what school to attend, if they would be liked by others, etc. Worries eat them up so deep, that even when they stand to pray, they do it in worry.
They are unsure of their answers from God, so there is practically no difference between their worried state and their praying mood. This makes them more disturbed after their prayers than they were before it.
Worry always makes you sorry and depressed. It ties you down to the past and your mistakes, and stops you from seeing what lies ahead. Someone once said: “Worry is like a rocking chair, it sets you in motion but never gets you anywhere.” At the end of your worry sessions, you feel exhausted but the issue at hand has not been solved. That hymn suggests that instead of being worried over everything and anything, you should pray about it.
It not that easy you may say, but it’s really as easy as that. It’s your inability to see the simplicity in prayers that makes it seem unanswered. One thing prayer does is to boost your confidence in God and help you see your brighter tomorrow. It assures you that you are not alone, and makes you see the light at the end of every tunnel. So, even when the answers are not visible in the natural, you are sure it would come.
Therefore, before you allow the good pass you by, due to much worries, brighten up, tighten yourself in prayer and leave your concerns with God. When you do this, everything begins to make more meaning to you.
Remain Blessed!
