Pastor Faith Oyedepo: Thursday June 25, 2015 Daily Devotional – Becoming a man of Character

Topic: Becoming a man of Character [Thursday June 25, 2015]

“That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”-2 Timothy 3:17

There comes a time in a man’s life, when he would want to be more physically built. He either goes to the gym to build up his physical muscles, or does self-disciplined exercises at home such as press-ups and weight lifting so as to develop this muscular structure. Doing this is important to some men because they feel they will be more respected and well received based on their looks.

However, worthy of note is that your body build-up doesn’t make you. It is who you are on the inside and the characters that you exhibit on the outside, that count. A man of character would have his undoubted devotion and love for God as his first priority. He would diligently obey and seek ways to please God, even when everyone and everything around him says the contrary.

He would be proper in his language (watching his choice of words and tones), will have the ability to control his temperament at all times, would be respectful to all no matter the gender, make sure he chooses his friends by godly standards, provide for his family and most of all, labour in dignity. Man is known by his work and that is often the pathway to excellence for the man. So, if you must be a man of character, you must be a man of hard works.

However, character is what you cultivate consciously. You need to pay attention to your behaviour, reactions and habits. They most of the time describe you, even in your absence. Therefore, if you want a good life you would be proud of, you must build your character and not only your physique. Truly, it pays to be a man of character.

Remain Blessed!
