Love: Not just words [Monday June 29, 2015]
“My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” -1 John 3:18
You must have heard plenty of times that you cannot love without giving. How true it is! Love is mostly expressed through giving, and a thoughtful little gift at the right time can work great wonders in your relationship, with your spouse. This giving, most times, has nothing to do with the volume or expense, but the heart and intentions behind it.
Couples who learn to give to each other, irrespective of the day or events, stay happier. To spice up your marital relationship, you should make it a duty to go beyond giving gifts on special occasions and birthdays, to surprising your spouse especially at odd times. However, gifting you should know is not one-sided, as both parties should seek to impress one other.
For instance, the wife could go beyond the usual dinner meals to prepare something special for her husband, in a special way, on an ordinary day. The husband also can plan a “getaway”, taking up the responsibility of house chores for a day or buying a gift for his wife, no matter how little it is. This act would speak volumes; far more than the words “I love you.”
Giving of gifts may seem solely material, but it has the ability to lift your marriage up, far beyond your expectations. It could serve as medicine to one’s health and solace in times when you are not physically present. Some misunderstandings that have skyrocketed today would have been avoided with just this little act of kindness. So, don’t wait until your marriage become boring, or you start feeling unloved; prove your love, as you give your gift.
Remain Blessed!
