Topic: The Power of Influence [Sunday August 23, 2015]
“Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign… And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.”-2 Kings 22:1-2
Everyone is uniquely endowed with the ability to influence others. However, the choice remains yours to decide whether that influence will be positive or negative. This is determined by your decision of what you will accept, stand for and hence be known for. As parents, being the most influential individual on your children therefore, the character that they exhibit is what you show them; only sometimes amplified.
The good news is that, you can use your power of influence to make generational impact by the legacy you bequeath to your children. I have seen children who naturally go into professions because one of their parents was/ is into the same and excelled/ is excelling in it. Influence is a strong force; but it takes skill and choice to engage it positively.
One major positive way to put the power of influence to work therefore is through solid examples. Your lifestyle should be a living epistle for those you are raising. Being a parent is not just a title, but a divine responsibility that you must be determined to get right. It entails living a life of impact.
Your positive influence on your children will affect your generations either openly or secretly through the ages; even long after you are gone. Having been graciously endowed with the awesome power of influence, you should begin today to affect the world positively through your seeds. Your children are your representatives even in the places you physically may never reach, so train them to represent you positively. You will not fail in this major assignment in the name of Jesus Christ!
Remain Blessed!
