Pastor Faith Oyedepo: Sunday August 30, 2015 Daily Devotional – Moulding Words

Topic: Moulding Words [Sunday August 30, 2015]

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”-Proverbs 18:21

Words either build up or tear down. Words either encourage or discourage. Words can be like poison and they can also be a fountain of life. Words are powerful and they are seeds. That is why it is important as a parent to learn to speak positive, life-building and encouraging words to your children. One way you can achieve this is by learning from the Potter.

A potter is never in a hurry when moulding any sculpture, and is never afraid to start all over again until his vision is what stares right back at him. For every piece of pottery he makes, he handles the clay with uttermost care and gentleness, using his hands to guide whatever shape he wants to form.

Similarly, the words that come out of our mouth to our children should be formed with care, patience and love. If your children are to attain the greatness you desire for them, then your words should build their self-esteem and be an encouragement to them. Be selective and deliberate in your choice of words. Don’t go about calling them names you wouldn’t want to see them be in the nearest future, and don’t be afraid to say you are sorry when you err in words.

The same way a suckling child draws strength and nourishment from the mother’s breast milk, is the same way your child draws nourishment from your words. Do not speak bitter, unforgiving and hateful words to them, but speak peace, life, health and soundness to them, daily. Make sure you guide their future by guiding the words you speak, either in their presence or absence. Take charge of your children’s future through your words today!

Remain Blessed!
