Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, said Capt Idris Wada, and the Peoples Democratic Party, remain the candidate and party to beat in the November, 21 Kogi Governorship election.
Awoniyi made the remarks while at the Wadata Plaza, the National Secretariat of the PDP to return the governorship forms collected by Capt Idris Wada yesterday that would enable him fly for another term the party's flag for the forth coming governorship election.
Awoniyi said the PDP remains the dominant party in the state. He maintained that Capt Idris Wada is fully on the ground. He added that having delivered democracy dividends to the people in the last three and half years, he was optimistic of overwhelming victory in the governorship election for the PDP.
Awoniyi pointed out Capt Wada is absolutely certain to deliver the state to the PDP in the governorship election, and described Kogi as a PDP state.
While noting that Capt Wada would abide to every guideline by the Party and that of INEC, he thanked the party for the warm reception it accorded the governor when he came to obtain the nomination form.
While praying fervently and hoping for Capt Wada to fly the party's flag, another term in office, Awoniyi disclosed will enable the governor complete all the good works he has begun in his first term.
Awoniyi expressed absolute believe in the party to conduct a free and fair party primaries, and assured that the PDP will win the forthcoming governorship poll convincingly.
Earlier in a remark, Alh Gambo Isah, Special Adviser to the National Organizing Secretary, said available evidence point to the fact that Capt Wada and the party are solidly on the ground, and assured of a level playing field in the party's primaries.
Alh Gambo, commended the zeal and enthusiasm of PDP members in the state, urged them to work collectively to retain their dominance in the state's politics.
Highlight of the visit was the presentation of the form and the receive of an acknowledged copy of the form submitted by Yomi Awoniyi on behalf of Capt Idris Wada.
Prominent among those in the entourage of the Deputy Governor were, Secretary to the State Government, Prof Olugbemiro Jegede, Pharm Nasiru Yunusa, and Alh Musa Ahmadu. Others are, the Commissioner for Justice, Joe Abraham, Sadiq Ainoko, Commissioner Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
