Topic: Refuse to be distracted [Thursday August 27, 2015]
“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”-Philippians 3:13-14
Winston Churchill said, “You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks.” How true this statement is! On your path to destiny, there will be many things calling for your attention. Some may be necessary, while others are just distractions to get you off track. As youths, it is normal to be filled with activities because you have the strength to do them; however, you need to be focussed if you must be successful at any of those activities.
When you are not focussed, you are walking in the dark and might stumble. Imagine yourself as an athlete, headed for the first prize. If you stop to reply every comment you hear, you realise that the race would be long over before you arrive the finish line. Distractions are usually noisy and the aim is to get your attention so you could be replaced. You therefore must be careful.
Everyone has a glorious destiny and the provisions to make you actualise it, are already available in Christ. You must be sure of your success and focus on it, the number of people around you not withstanding. You should know that the devil is not happy with your success that is why he has placed those distractions there, but you must be smarter than him. Turn yourself off from the noise around you and keep aiming at the mark.
The good news is, whatever your own distractions are, you can overcome them. Perhaps you have fallen in the past or feel discouraged; put yourself together, shake off the dust, add a little more effort and you will be there before you know it. Your glory days are just around the corner, and all you need is focus. You will not miss it in the name of Jesus Christ!
Remain Blessed!
