Pastor Faith Oyedepo: Tuesday August 18, 2015 Daily Devotional – Are you ready?

Topic: Are you ready? [Tuesday August 18, 2015]

“And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.” -Hebrews 12:13

Around this time of year, many singles hold on the more to their desire for marital breakthrough. With numerous weddings going on, the hope for those believing for the same testimony is greatly tested. If you are one of them, you must not lose hope. God is still on your case; and for some of you, He is awaiting certain mental adjustments, on your part.

Every single at some point in time views themselves ready for marriage. It might be because of their age or pressures from society, family and friends. However, the issue of being ready is subjective. That means it solely depends on your age or what others may think.

Marriage is delicate and more spiritual, than physical. So, you must be sure you are ready to accept this beautiful package; not minding others’ comments about how it is packed. Many Christians tend to say things like, “Well, I am waiting on God.” Meanwhile, they have their non-amendable criteria that mostly are not Scripture- based. So, they focus more on physical packaging and other seeming attractions, not minding the quality of the content.

When God then brings someone their way who does not meet all their written criteria, he or she automatically is disqualified; without further verification from the One you claim to be waiting on. This, in some instances, is why some singles remain single. This is not to say that God cannot meet your specifications; but you must realise that He does not work on your terms, but His terms. So, if you believe God for a spouse, you must be ready to accept His choice, based on His terms.

It is important to have a personal relationship with God as a single, or else you may mistake your desire for His plan and totally miss out on His voice. If you are sure of your relationship with God and your sensitivity to the Spirit, then you must open yourself up for His will to be done. Don’t go on waiting on God on your terms, but be willing to say with all sincerity, “I am ready Lord, let Your will be done!” and act with same confidence. When you get to this stage, you are really ready for that marital desire to be met by God. He will not fail you in the name of Jesus Christ!

Remain Blessed!
