Pastor Faith Oyedepo: Sunday August 2, 2015 Daily Devotional – The right Atmosphere

Topic: The right Atmosphere [Sunday August 2, 2015]

“That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace:”-Psalm 144:12

As individuals, we adopt into our homes a lot of what we learnt from our parents while growing up. Some adopt everything, positive and negative; while others try to change what they believe is negative or not applicable to them.

For instance, various researches have shown that men who disrespect their wives saw this trait in their fathers and/ or father figures while growing up. Same go for women who refuse to submit to their husbands.

Children are products of what they see much more than of what they are told. This is why the best method with which to teach or train children is through examples. That means being what you want them to be. Their constant exposure to domestic violence, irrational behaviours, inconsistency in relationships and verbal abuses will only toughen their skin and weaken their trust for others.

As parents, it is your responsibility to imbibe the right values into your children. This, for the most part, involves the show of love and understanding between both parents so as to create a loving atmosphere for the children to learn and grow. It doesn’t help if their tender minds continually witness arguments, fights and harshness. So, you must of necessity settle whatever differences you have as a couple in the confines of your room and try as much as possible to teach your children the act of love, fellowship and family unity. You will not fail in the name of Jesus Christ!

Remain Blessed!
