Topic: Be futuristic [Tuesday August 4, 2015]
“…But godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.”-1 Timothy 4:8
A wise man once said, “Wise people choose today what will make them happy tomorrow. Foolish people choose today only what will make them happy today.” Many are short-sighted in their choices. They think of the pleasures for the now, and forget about the consequences of their actions in the future.
For instance, when you are confronted with a tempting situation, rather than giving in, you must remember that even though it might be pleasurable in the moment, the repercussions in the future far outweigh the pleasures of the now. Please note, this however does not only apply to committing sin, but generally in decision making. You need to always seat down to weigh your pros and cons before taking any steps.
Your determination to be futuristic involves you having a true mental picture of the future. If you truly know where you are headed, you can easily decide if your actions or commitments today will lead you there or not. On the other hand, if you don’t know where you are headed, anything would seem okay.
You must therefore know what God has as His plan for you (Jeremiah 11:29), determine like Daniel (Daniel 1:8) not to defile that glorious plan through the decisions you make and consciously scrutinise every step you take with the perimeter of the Word of God; to ensure you are always on the right track. Everyone has a glorious future and yours will not be corrupted or halted by your choices, in Jesus name!
Remain Blessed!
