Topic: The true Ministry [Wednesday August 12, 2015]
“And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.”-Mark 9:35
It is popularly said that the only constant thing in life is change. However, change can either be good or bad. Let’s therefore ponder on the ministries of early days, especially those of Jesus’ disciples. You can tell that it was plainly born out of love and devotion for God. They suffered persecutions, mockeries and imprisonment among others, because of their passion for ministry.
These days however, if you are not careful, it might be difficult to spot those truly called into ministry from those doing it solely for fame or financial gain. Ministry is neither a dream nor a trance; it is the call of God on a man’s life. Truth is: everyone has a ministry in which we are called into, and so we don’t all have to be on the pulpit or pastor a church to realize that we have our function in the body of Christ.
You have a task to perform for the edification of the Church, irrespective of your position right now. Ministry is service and stewardship. You are serving as a messenger, carrying out God’s orders of which His major order is to reconcile man back to God. This does not need a special calling to do; it just requires your heart and an undying devotion to Him.
Do not be trapped in the web of comparison, dissatisfaction, strife or position and titles;rather, discover your individuality and accept your core responsibility in the Kingdom. Above all, do it heartily, not as a master in it, but a servant of God. Remember, a faithful servant will always abound with blessings (Proverbs 28:20), but he who looks for popularity and human respect will only have that as a reward. That will not be you in the name of Jesus Christ!
Remain Blessed!
