The Free Medical Outreach organized by Kogi West Women in collaboration with Otorhinolaryngolical Society of Nigeria and The Redeemed Christian Church of God, London, has ended with about 5,000 women treated for Ear, Nose, Throat, Eye as well as the presentation of maternity packs to some pregnant women.
Mrs Tokunbo Awoniyi, wife of the Kogi State Deputy Governor and facilitator of the outreach at the close of the outreach asked women to always seek early medical attention as a panacea towards ensuring the live a healthy life.
Wife of the Kogi State Deputy Governor, gave the advise in an address at the close of a six day free medical outreach held in Mopa, Yagba – East and West LGA of the State.
Mrs. Awoniyi, described women as nation builders, said their health needs and their well being must be made a top priority to government and other stakeholders. Mrs. Awoniyi, described the free medical as a program that offered free consultation and provided medical materials to women, said it was aimed at complementing the quarterly free rural medical program of the Kogi State Government.
Mrs. Awoniyi appealed to women to always seek early medical attention to their health issues, described the increasing rate of high mortality as caused by poverty, ignorance and inability to access the right medical facilities.
While noting that when women are healthy, it enables them contribute positively to the socio – economic development of the society, said the task of improving the health needs of women, is a collective responsibilities that must be encouraged.
Various speakers at the program who included the SSA1 of Mopa, Yagba – East and West, all commended the women for their role in ensuring a better health and well being of women in the area.
