Pastor Faith Oyedepo: Wednesday October 14, 2015 Daily Devotional – Pass the Light

Topic: Pass the Light [Wednesday 14 October, 2015]

“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”-1 Corinthians 15:19

Do you know that a light shines brighter when it is shared? Take for instance, if you are in a big hall, with about 100 people in attendance and there is a power outage. If you have only one lighted candle stick, it would amount to nothing, compared to when 50 or all 100 of the people have their own lighted candle stick. The one with the lighted candle stick can share that light to the 99 others, and that is how powerful light is.As Christians, we are light to other believers, as well as those outside the Faith. If you are the only Christian among many brethren; your light may seem dim; but when it is shared, mighty things happen!

Your salvation, even though personal, should not be kept under a bushel. Your being the light is not just so that you are light to yourself or your family; this light is not just extended to a few friends, but should be to the entire world. I have discovered that the major reason people fail to evangelize to others is that they are not sure of their salvation themselves.

If you are sure, you won’t hesitate to lead someone else to the good path you have found. Some ministers even feel so reluctant to preach to their family members, especially extended. Some others have even removed altar call from the usual service schedule. Remember, your salvation is a call to a partnership with God in reconciling others back to Him. Isn’t that amazing! You have an honourable responsibility to help spread the glorious gospel of salvation.

Christianity is better enjoyed when you have other faithful followers. I have once imagined that if we were to be on a queue, with our converts behind us and theirs behind them, how many people will be queued behind me? That should be a motivation for you to bring in souls, so you don’t stand alone on the queue.

Your life is much sweeter, when you impact others, especially with the gospel of salvation. So, don’t sit there comfortable with your own salvation, press towards the high calling for the salvation of others.

Remain Blessed!
