Topic: Learn as much as you can [Friday July 17, 2015]
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”-2 Timothy 2:15
As a single, I would pick every godly material I find on marriage, because I was looking for the things that would make my marriage most successful. I studied those materials and would match them up to what I saw the Bible say on God’s concept of marriage. This act paid off for me, because the principles I discovered have helped build and sustain my home, till date.
A lot of young people desire to be married and have not read or discovered anything about what they intend to get into. Some are already married and still won’t border to read any materials to further understand it; even when they are confronted with challenges.
Some others think preparation for marriage simply include buying household goods, learning to keep the home tidy or having a well paid job. Although these are a part of it, they are minute compared to gaining the overall knowledge of what to do so as to prevent challenges or at least, adequately handle challenges so as to reach a resolve.
Truth is, there is need for you to learn as much as you can about marriage from credible sources. Study the Bible, the primary text on the subject of marriage. Study other materials (books, tapes, magazines), by those with not just knowledge of the subject but, proven testimonies as seen in their marriages. The main difference between a marriage that is working and one that is not, is knowledge.
Study to understand God’s provision laws for the family, how to run a home and how best to relate with in-laws. Your single days are days to sufficiently build yourself up; enough to then be able to build a successful marriage. Don’t spend all your time looking out for whom to marry, build yourself up first to be well equipped for marriage. You will not fail in the name of Jesus Christ!
Remain Blessed!
