“Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband”-Ephesians 5:33
Every new assignment you take has responsibilities attached to it. At times, you might have had prior experience in that field, and other times, these responsibilities are new to you. Whatever the case may be, it is always expected of you to meet up with those responsibilities and at the appropriate time; if you must be successful. So it is with marriage.
Marriage has responsibilities attached to it for both the man and the woman. For the home to be sustained, they must co-operate together to see that each one fulfil their responsibilities acceptably and satisfactorily. While the man is expected to be the leader: to provide spiritually, physically and financially, the woman is expected to be a help- meet: to be of help in her husband’s endeavours, respectful and a keeper of their resources.
Co-operation comes in when each is willing and committed to playing their role, as well as helping the other be the better at theirs. There is an adage that says that “when the left hand helps to wash the right, both become clean.” Without co-operation in marriage, there would be division and a house divided against itself cannot stand (Luke 11:17).
However, in the case where one party refuses to co-operate, the other party should not use that as an excuse to neglect his or her duties. While diligently playing your role with honour and respect, you should also prayerfully seek guidance; uplifting your partner in prayer. Following the above therefore, will make for an enjoyable marriage. You will not regret getting married in the name of Jesus Christ!
Remain Blessed!
