Topic: Applying Wisdom [Monday July 20, 2015]
“If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct.”-Ecclesiastics 10:10
For ages, money has been a dividing force between couples. It is either the husband feels he is over- burdened with responsibilities, or the wife feels that her husband is incapable of meeting her needs. The truth is: If both parties are transparent and open about their incomes, spending habits and comfortability levels, the stress now related with financial obligations in the home, will be reduced.
Couples must understand that there is absolutely nothing wrong in letting your spouse know how much you earn. In fact, being plain about your earnings help both of you to plan adequately, figure out ways to spend properly and create opportunities on how you may invest your money. The secrecy that most deal with however, breeds suspicion hence, unnecessary burdens which then lead to unmet demands.
One major reason why spouses put a lot of financial expectations on each other is because they assume what they each earn; and as we know, assumptions could easily be wrong. While one might be trying to meet those expectations, the other may feel that not much of an effort is given; thereby creating burdens within the relationship.
The wisdom to handling financial issues in the home is therefore first for couples to be transparent in their earnings, bringing their incomes together and then, dividing them appropriately to meet the needs of the home and any other obligations, as may have been agreed upon. When you do this, you reduce any unnecessary financial pressures and increase trust. Your marriage from henceforth will be stress-free, in the name of Jesus Christ!
Remain Blessed!
