“…Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,… I press toward the mark…”-Philippians 3:13-14
Dwelling on past hurts and mistakes is one of the traps the devil uses to sway believers, especially the youth, in making wrong choices. He makes them feel that because they have done something negative in the past or have been confronted with certain challenges due to their family background or other the likes, they are not entitled to the best.
Unfortunately, many people have been made to believe these lies and are living in torture and frustration; the devil having so ruined their belief in themselves and God. Truth is: God does not hold you down for anything; as long as you truly repent, and return to Him.
Yes, our God is a Consuming fire, but He also is plenteous in mercy. Think about this: Saul was a hardened persecutor of the Church. He was even on one of his persecution missions when God captured His heart. Today, he is the most revered apostle of his time. If one’s dirty or negative past prevents them from ever enjoying God and His blessings, Paul the apostle should have been one of the first ones disqualified. The same also goes for Moses.
Remember, God does not bless the qualified, He qualifies you the obedient—the ready and the repentant. So, rather than exempting yourself from all the beautiful choices God has for you, dust yourself off from that shame of your past that seems to linger and look ahead to the brighter future. Forgive yourself and your offenders and decide to make positive, healthy and good choices from henceforth.
You deserve the best so how blessed it is to know that God has it all laid out for you. Reach out and grab it, through the power of right choices.
Remain Blessed!
