Topic: Are you Teachable? [Thursday July 23, 2015]
“Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.”-Proverbs 15:10
As humans, we claim to be teachable, but when corrected, only a few can adequately handle it. Some feel bad after corrections and whether consciously or unconsciously, they begin to avoid or breed malice with the person who gave the correction. One sure way you can ascertain if you are teachable therefore, is to check your reactions when and after being corrected.
Corrections are part and parcel of life. No one is an island; hence nobody is above being corrected. We don’t all know everything, and being humans, we are prone to making mistakes. However, you should be humble enough to accept and make changes, when corrected.
A teachable person is always willing to admit when he/she is wrong, ready to listen to opinions or advise from others who know more, ready to mend his/her ways without taking offence and readily avoids belittling his/her teachers. In summary, a teachable person is meek and honest enough to accept corrections.
Someone once said that the largest room in the world is the room of improvement. You have not gotten anywhere yet, and even if you think you have, you can still be better at what you do. So, your crave for learning must be continuous. You must understand that you can learn from any source, if willing.
Open up your mind, free yourself from every bias or self image you might have and be ready to learn. Absorb as much as you can but first off, test your sources to know they are right. You will not fail, in the name of Jesus Christ!
Remain Blessed!
