Kogi Govt commend FMBN efforts at providing shelter

The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria has been commended for its continued demonstration to improve the lot of the Nigerian worker as it regards provision of shelter.

Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada stated this when he received in audience, the Zonal Coordinator and State Officials of FMBN, who paid him a courtesy visit to introduce one of the Bank’s new product, "Home Renovation Loan".

The Governor who was represented at the visit by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, described the FMBN as a partner in progress of the Nigeria worker.

The Governor advised the Bank to aside the civil servants, strive to introduce the new product to those in the informal sector, disclosing that they constitute a large segment of the State’s population, and described the home renovation loan initiative introduced by the bank as a product that should be embraced by citizens.

The Governor promised to look into the request of the FMBN officials to have Local Government workers, be part of the contributors to the NHF, disclosed that working out a multifaceted approach by the bank to cover all segment of the society will no doubt bring a lot of benefits to citizens of the State.

Capt Wada commended the role the bank has played in the provision of shelter to citizens of the State since creation; assured of government necessary support that will enable the bank attain its laudable objectives.

In a remark, Mr. Yusuf Dauda, Zonal Coordinator of FMBN, said the bank’s new product, the home renovation loan, is a quick win product with fewer challenges to assess by workers who are contributors to the NHF scheme. He said the bank offers a maximum of N1 million as loan to workers with existing properties due for renovation at low interest rate.

The Zonal Co-ordinator commended the support and interest of the State Government to the bank, and solicited the enlistment of Local Government workers to the NHF scheme.

In a welcome remark Fashina Abiodun, Kogi State controller, FMBN, said the Bank presently has 1050 units of houses for workers who are contributors to the NHF in the State, and called on workers in the State to take advantage of the bank’s new product to apply for the house renovation loan as it is easily accessible, with an affordable interest rate.
